Blind Quest II (2009)

After many years of thinking about it, I've finally added Blind Quest II (2009) to itch.io! You might be wondering why I haven't uploaded Blind Quest I (2008) first before this game. Well, I like to pretend that game doesn't exist. The less that game is mentioned, the better.

This game is most definitely NSFW. There is absolutely NO nudity, but there is relentless swearing, alcohol and drug abuse references. The "humour" is also whatever was going in 2009, so you may find parts of the game offensive.

BQII is a 13-year old RPGmaker 2003 game. Expect lots of unfinished stuff, lots of things that don't work anymore, and tons of ways to get stuck. All part of the fun!

The origins of Blind Quest II:

It was the early beginnings of the "Let's Play" genre of Youtube videos that prompted the creation of BQII. There was a then-popular Youtuber conducting reviews of RPG Maker games and trying to find the very worst of them all, who consequently started a genuine competition open to everyone to submit games they had made. Eventually, the contest ended, the Youtuber gave up on Youtube and Blind Quest II never got submitted. What we're left with is a shell of a game that is far different from what would have been submitted at the time, but the end result is something playable with more of a story and less "make the player suffer". But it will still make you suffer.

Surreal Elements:

I took inspiration from lots of other mediums for the creatures and characters of Blind Quest II. What kind of things do you see during a state of delirious unconciousness?  Some of the monsters reflect feelings, some reflect dark secrets- and some are just plain weird.

Nothing is ever truly random. 

There IS a solution to the problem.

You will find a way to beat this.

You will find a way out.

Under the veil of it's daft humour and disgusting imagery, Blind Quest II has a sad, hopeless undertone that tries to portray what it's like to suffer from depression and substance addiction.  It might seem like all the doors are locked in the dark corridor; you can go back the way you came and be free.
